Policy
For Co-Centre research to have real world impact our findings must provide evidence for relevant decision makers to design policy. However, dissemination of our findings to the appropriate policy stakeholders at the right time is essential. This has been emphasised in the Co-Centre theory of change, where policymakers are one of our key stakeholder groups, where timely engagement opportunities have been identified.
It is recognised that researchers and policymakers use different language, thus presenting a barrier in communication. In order to bridge this gap, the Co-Centre has established a Science and Policy Integration Task Force, with representation across the food system. The task force will keep up to date with policy advancements in the food systems space and develop learning materials and resources for Co-Centre researchers, in particular early career members. Furthermore, as part of the Early Career Researcher training programme opportunities to develop policy briefs, attend policymaker events and network with policymakers is facilitated.
