Dr. Alice Lucey is a Lecturer in Nutritional Science at the School of Food & Nutritional Sciences, University College Cork (UCC), and the current Academic Programme Director of the BSc Nutritional Sciences. She holds a BSc in Nutritional Sciences, a PhD in Nutrition, and is a Registered Nutritionist (AfN). Dr. Lucey is a Principal Investigator at the Cork Centre for Vitamin D and Nutrition Research, leading research in nutrition, food bioactives, and health. Her work focuses on designing innovative food-based solutions to support health and well-being. With over 15 years of experience in trial design and human dietary interventions, Dr. Lucey has secured over €2 million in research funding. Her research interests include the roles of micronutrients, particularly vitamin K and D, and food-based strategies like dietary bioactives, fruits, vegetables, and fibre on cardiometabolic and musculoskeletal health. She collaborates with the food sector and is passionate about food innovation and the Irish agri-food sector.

Dr. Lucey has authored peer-reviewed publications, supervised MSc and PhD students, and teaches across 14 modules on various topics, including Public Health Nutrition and Nutritional Epidemiology. She is an active member of the Nutrition Society and has contributed to its Irish Section Committee since 2016.
