Dr. Michela Bertolotto received a BSc (1993) and a PhD degree in Computer Science (1998) from the University of Genova (Italy). She worked at the National Center for Geographic Information and Analysis and the Department of Spatial Information Science and Engineering of the University of Maine as a postdoctoral research associate. She joined UCD in September 2000. Her research interests include spatio-temporal data modelling and mining, mobile and web-based GIS, map personalisation, open and crowd-sourced spatial data. Dr. Bertolotto is leading a research group including 4 postgraduate students and 4 postdoctoral researchers. At UCD she has supervised to completion 8 MSc and 19 PhD students. She has published over 100 scientific papers in journals and conferences in Geographic Information Science and related disciplines. She has been an invited speaker to several international institutions including ETH (Switzerland) and Rutgers University (USA). She is an associate editor of the International Journal of Geographical Information Science; an editorial board member of the Journal of Spatial Information Science and a regular reviewer for several major journals in GIScience including GeoInformatica, ISPRS Journal of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, IEEE Transactions on Geosciences and Remote Sensing, and Photogrammetric Engineering & Remote Sensing.
