Dr. Michelle Clements works on several projects focused on the role of folate and B-vitamins in human health, particularly during aging. She is involved in the following key projects:

  • Co-Centre for Sustainable Food Systems: Nutrition & Health Platform

  • Food4PD: A 12-week RCT validating a novel functional food for people with Parkinson’s

  • TUDA Study: A large cohort study of over 5,000 older adults across Ireland, providing detailed nutritional, health, and lifestyle data

  • OptiAge Project: A 2-year RCT and 16-week food intervention to promote healthier aging

  • InteRVENE Project: Investigating riboflavin interventions to improve vascular health in genetically at-risk adults

  • VALID Project: Linking dietary factors, nutrient biomarkers, and inflammation with cognition in older adults

Dr. Clements’ responsibilities include managing human trials, ensuring project milestones are met, preparing ethical approvals, assessing dietary intake, and analysing laboratory samples. She also trains and mentors staff and students, conducts data analysis, presents research findings, and contributes to high-impact scientific publications. Additionally, she collaborates with global researchers and participates in project meetings with internal and external partners.
