Dr. Michelle Savian holds a PhD from the UCD School of Biosystems and Food Engineering. She earned a BSc (Hons) in Geology from the Federal University of ParanĂ¡, Brazil, and a postgraduate diploma in Environmental Management Systems from the Pontifical Catholic University of ParanĂ¡. With over 17 years of experience as a Senior and Lead Geologist, she managed large-scale mining, environmental, and civil engineering projects across Brazil. After relocating to Europe, she completed an MSc in Environmental Technology at University College Dublin in 2018, developing a Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment model for pig production in Brazil. Her PhD research at UCD focused on the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of integrated organic feed and egg production systems, incorporating ecosystem services and soil biodiversity to inform debates on sustainable, organic, and regenerative agriculture. Michelle later joined Maynooth University as a Postdoctoral Researcher on the BioBeo project, advancing bioeconomy education and literacy. She is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher within the Co-Centre for Sustainable Food Systems at University College Dublin, where her work focuses on advanced LCA modelling of Irish agri-food systems to support the transition toward sustainable food production and circular bioeconomy development on the Island of Ireland.
