Professor M-Tahar Kechadi holds a PhD and Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Lille 1, France. He joined the UCD School of Computer Science in 1999 and is currently a Professor of Computer Science. His research interests encompass Data Mining, distributed systems, Grid and Cloud Computing, and digital forensics and cyber-crime investigations. Prof. Kechadi has published over 260 research articles in peer-reviewed journals and conferences and serves on scientific committees for numerous international conferences. He is also an editorial board member of the Journal of Future Generation of Computer Systems and IST Transactions of Applied Mathematics-Modelling and Simulation.
His research focuses on managing and analyzing large datasets, particularly in the context of ‘big data,’ which is rapidly growing and driving innovation across various sectors. Key research areas include Data Mining techniques, Medical Data Mining, and digital forensics. Prof. Kechadi is interested in how to process and analyze vast amounts of data in distributed, heterogeneous environments, improving system performance. A major objective of his work is to design data mining techniques that balance the workload between the user and the computer, ensuring efficient analysis and addressing scalability and privacy challenges. Recently, he has explored these issues in the context of cybercrime investigations and healthcare.
